ABOUT BETHANY BAPTIST CHURCH
Bethany Baptist Church is an assembly of born again Bible believers united together in order to establish a base for the proclamation of the word of God. We use the 1611 Authorized King James Bible to win the lost. Believing Jesus to come back soon for His Church, we desire to see as many as possible rescued from the upcoming Great Tribulation as described in the Bible.
Bethany Baptist Church is an Independent, Fundemental, Bible Believing, Mission Minded Church located in the beautiful upstate of South Carolina. Sitting atop one of the rolling foothills of Travelers Rest, Bethany has been a lighthouse in the area for nearly 50 years.
A friendly, loving, family best describes the congregation of Bethany. A small congregation with a big heart for the lost in our community the surrounding area and around the world. Feel free to come by and visit us during any of our scheduled services.
ABOUT OUR PASTOR
Jeremy Chism has been the pastor of Bethany since November of 2003. Pastor Chism has lived in the Travelers Rest area all of his life. He is a graduate of Tabernacle Bible College.
He is married to Maria Chism also of the Travelers Rest area. They have four wonderful children Caleb, Mathew, Bethany and Seth.
ABOUT OUR MUSIC
A great Bible based Music Ministry is enjoyed here at our church, under the leadership of capable men and women who are dedicated to presenting that which would bring glory and honor to God and His son, Jesus Christ.
The musical instruments are composed of the piano and organ along with other string instuments, adding the desired touch to the quality music enjoyed here at Bethany. We also enjoy other instruments as members use their talents for the Lord's service.
There is no desire for the so called "contemporary sound" at the church, thus the music enjoyed here is that of our forefathers which has been used through the years to uplift the heart of the believer and bring joy to the soul. We strive to uplift the church with a great choir as well as a variety of congregational selections.
God has given the church many gifted individuals who use their voices and talents in the Music Ministry of the church.
ABOUT OUR SERVICES
At Bethany we love to give God praise for His goodness and mercy. Although everything is done in order as the bible teaches we are not operated by a scheduled program. The Holy Spirit controls our services and we try to be sensitive to his moving.
Often our service may consist of people giving testimonies of how God has blessed them in some special way. Some may "shout" and praise God by lifting their hands giving God the honor He so greatly deserves but it is done by the leading of the Holy Spirit and not the conjured up emotions of the flesh.
The preaching and teaching of God's word is the main emphasis of all our services for it is through the preaching and exposing of the Bible to individuals that they are reached with the Gospel. The believer is instructed through the Bible how to live for Christ, allowing the Holy Spirit to dierect through the Scriptures how to live.
ABOUT OUR MINISTRIES
Bethany has several ministries and outreaches to get involved with. There is a visitation program every Tuesday night at 7:00PM. We have a Children's Bible Club and Teen Bible Study each Wednesday night at 7:30PM. There is Children's Church each Sunday morning at 11:30AM and a radio broadcast Monday through Friday from 10:15AM to 10:30AM.
The church supports numerous missionaries around the world, evangelist, helps ministries, and homes for boys and girls. As you can see there are quite a few ministries at Bethany that can use the help of good, Godly Christians.
